Zoo de Lagos
Is located just outside Lagos in Portugal. Home to over 150 different species of animals and hundreds of botanical species, the zoo is all about the animals - their well-being, conservation and protection. It's a great option if you're looking for things to do in the Algarve for children and teenages as well as adults.
Conservation and education are important elements at Lagos Zoo. The zoo participates in several captive breeding programmes through the EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquariums) and regularly receives endangered species that remain with the zoo for some time. It also collaborates and supports several conservation NGO projects. At Lagos Zoo, the animals reign supreme. There are no shows and spectacles to entertain visitors. The pleasure is in wandering the grounds and feeling like you are getting a glimpse into the life of thriving animal communities. Some of the animals wander freely - you may cross paths with wallabies, pelicans and peacocks - reinforcing the idea that we are visiting their world, rather than they have been transported to ours. You can even swim, side by side but separately, with a group of African penguins.
There is a snack bar as well as picnic areas within the grounds.
Lagos Zoo is open every day, all year round. Tickets can be bought at the door or alternatively, buy your tickets online and get an online discount. Children under 4 years of age have free entry.

Karting Almancil Family Park
Is the longest running karting track in the Algarve, inaugurated by racing legend Ayrton Senna in 1992. With a focus firmly on karting and motor sports, the action takes place on a 760m replica of the Formula 1 Jacarepagua track. With curves and straights, it's the perfect track to test your skill and take on your friends in a race to the finish line.
Karting Almancil Family Park is excellent for both adult and junior drivers. For beginners and teens there are 200cc Proline karts that are easy to handle and very agile. The 390cc karts are high performance karts for more experienced drivers. There are two-seater karts available, designed for an adult and for a child under 8 years of age. These are a great way to share the excitement and passion of karting with your kids. Karting Almancil also has hand controlled karts - perfect for those with reduced mobility to enjoy the fun of racing too.
Aside from the main 760m track, there is a junior track where young drivers can hone their skills. The Mini F1 karts are for the youngest drivers, aged 3 to 6 years of age, while the Junior Karting circuit and 120cc karts are ideal for budding champions aged 6 to 12 years.
In addition to the karting, there are plenty of other fun activities available at the Family Park. There are trampolines and mini boats for younger visitors, there is a restaurant on site, arcade games and plenty of space to relax in. For parties and groups a climbing wall and the option of a Paint Ball war can be arranged, on request. You can even join a Buggy Safari and enjoy an off road adventure in the Algarve countryside.

Hot Shot Bowling
Hot Shot Bowling in Albufeira is a fun indoor, ten pin bowling alley and leisure center, right on Albufeira marina. Great for fun with the kids, or just for a break from the beach. It is a pretty cool place to spend some time. Set right on Albufeira marina by the main promenade, you have a view of the yachts from the bowling lanes - quite possibly the only bowling alley with such a view! There are seven lanes in total with colourful and changing lighting, and different weight and size bowling balls.
One of the best things about bowling is that it is great fun for all ages. Children love it and at Hot Shot Bowling they have ramps to help junior visitors get those balls rolling down the lanes. The over head screens update the scores after each turn, so the competition can get pretty lively, with everybody looking for that perfect score.
As your regular footwear can be worn at Hot Shot Bowling, there is no need to worry about finding the right size bowling shoes or bringing extra socks.....
Aside from the bowling, there are lots of arcade games here too including a pool table, live darts, sports TV, air hockey, table football as well as plenty of screens so you can keep an eye on all the sport. There are rides and games for younger children too. There is a spacious bar and sunny deck overlooking the marina, Strikers Bar, where you can enjoy a drink, snacks and ice-cream.
Hot Shot Bowling is a great way to spend some fun time with the family, it's ideal for a group of teenagers The bowling center is adjacent to Hot Wheels Raceway - a super indoor karting track. Between them, they offer guaranteed fun at Albufeira Marina.
