Vila Joya Sea - the beach shack
The first on Villa Cascata's guide is located in Albufeira, Vila Joya Sea is an upscale beachfront restaurant offering a fine dining experience with stunning ocean views. It is known for its innovative seafood dishes and has been awarded two Michelin stars. A beach shack, yes, but not as you might expect.
Whether you prefer to relax in laid-back bohemian style or bury your feet in the fine sand of the dunes, you can meet at their beach shack for lunch, dinner or simply a sundowner.
Head chef Dieter Koschina is still at the helm of its Michelin-emblazoned restaurant after 20 years, serving up serious suppers to a committed crowd of star-chasers.
The best seats in the house are at the wraparound bar, watching the sushi master carve slices of fatty tuna belly and hand-make sea bass nigiri, while spiced snapper sizzles on the robata grill. Lilting Portuguese guitar music plays in the background, but as the widescreen sun dips down towards the horizon, it picks up pace with reggae chords, and the rattle and roll of the mixologist’s shaker busy with Amber Mojitos.
