Delight in an evening of fine dining at ‘Henrique Leis Restaurant’ Algarve, Portugal
Henrique Leis is a restaurant of excellence, located on the Algarve coast, and features a wine list with the best references of Portugal, to all over the world.
Awarded with one Michelin star from 2000 to 2019, the chef Henrique Leis gives a personal touch to the restaurant style, by exhibiting his own paintings on the walls.
The chalet style building is a house all in wood, with plenty of parking outside, and a 20-minute drive from Villa Cascata to Almancil.
With a very welcoming environment, refined, comfortable and very rich in decorative elements, the interior is ideal for an intimate dinner in a discreet and high-quality atmosphere.
The restaurant has two rooms, one for winter, with warm colours and fireplace, and another for summer with bright and fresh colours that extends to the outside, where the terrace, under a blanket of stars, is surrounded by floral corners and a spectacular view of the Atlantic.
Four of us went to Henrique Leis for a wedding anniversary dinner....and special it most certainly was.
From the moment we entered, we were greeted by a beautiful, charming young lady who we believe is part of the owner’s family, we sat down to a truly splendid dinner in every way.
The welcome from our hostess and waiting team was second to none, warm, friendly, attentive, and informative, of course at the beginning of each course, explaining all the details of the dishes.
We occupied an elegant table in the centre of the restaurant with its meticulous interior and attractive terrace, this is where we waited in anticipation for the Brazilian-born chef and team to create for us, contemporary cuisine with roots in classic dishes.
The tasting menu
We choose the 8 course ‘tasting menu’ at 89 Euros and what a treat we had.
You cannot go wrong with the amazing tasting menu with an incredible organic egg with imperial caviar, lobster from Sagres, superb beef tenderloin and just the most exquisite pre-dessert, dessert and post-dessert plates.
The chef prepares dishes that visually are a work of art and taste even better than they look.

The choice of dishes was all superb, the staff wonderful, and the food and wine excellent.
This is one of the best 'secrets' in the Algarve!

From the Almancil roundabout with Novo Banco Bank, go in the direction to Loulé. Passing over the railway and then heading up a further 600m, the restaurant is based just on the left as you go around the bend.
